Gayle Smacks Century To Down Canada

Galye - sweet century.

Captain Chris Gayle blasted a ton as the West Indies beat Canada by seven wickets in the final of the Scotiabank Series in King City on Sunday.

After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, the Windies bowled the hosts out for 176 in 46.5 overs. Opener Rizwan Cheema top-scored with 61, while Jerome Taylor was the pick of the bowlers with three for 33.

The tourists were ruthless in their reply, racing to 88 without loss in just over a dozen overs before Sewnarine Chattergoon fell for 28.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Carlton Baugh enjoyed a promotion in the batting order, adding 77 for the second wicket with Gayle before losing his wicket to debutant leg-spinner Balaji Rao for 29.

Leon Johnson came and went for a mere single, leaving Xavier Marshall and the visiting skipper to bring up the victory with 22.3 overs to spare.

Gayle finished unbeaten on 110, a sterling knock that included 14 boundaries and six sixes.
