Hinds - Derby deal.
Former West Indies all-rounder Wavell Hinds has signed a deal which will keep him at Derbyshire next season, with the option of a further year in 2010.
Hinds, has been playing for Derbyshire as a Kolpak player this season, despite initially seeing his registration rejected by the England and Wales Cricket Board.
Since being granted permission to play, he has hit five half-centuries - including two blistering knocks in the Twenty20 Cup - and collected 16 wickets.
The news comes after a week which has seen former captain Rikki Clarke and spinner Nayan Doshi released by the county after less than a year.
Hinds, who turns 32 on Sunday, said: "I have enjoyed my first season with Derbyshire immensely and I am therefore very pleased that I have been offered the opportunity to return in 2009.
"We have a talented group of players here and ambitious plans for the future. I am excited about being a part of that future."
Head of cricket John Morris added: "I am naturally delighted to have secured the services of a player with such experience and quality for at least another year.
"As well as being an exceptional cricketer, Wavell is a terrific personality to have in the changing room and his wealth of experience at the highest level has been, and will continue to be, invaluable."
