Larsen: The Icing On The Cake Is T20

Larsen - the times, they are achanging.

Cricket Wellington chief executive Gavin Larsen believes the city's allocation in the international schedules reflects the changing nature of the sport.

New Zealand's capital has received just one Test, the Black Caps' final match of the season against India at the Basin Reserve, in the 2008/09 schedules announced this week.

The Westpac Stadium will host 50-over matches against India and the West Indies as well as a Twenty20 international against Mahendra Singh Dhoni's world champions.

"Obviously with there only being four home Test matches it was going to be a difficult ask for New Zealand Cricket to allocate two Tests to the Basin," Larsen told The Dominion Post.

"In my mind, we are a two-Test-a-summer venue, so there's always a tinge of disappointment when we've only got the one, but that's going to be a great fixture.

"The icing on the cake is the Twenty20. We know how our city gets in behind the [rugby] sevens, so I'd like to think we can create the same sort of mood.

"There's no escaping Twenty20, the market is really embracing it now."
