Siddons - we can be competitive.
Bangladesh coach Jamie Siddons has said that a solitary victory during the upcoming one-day series in Australia will not be satisfactory.
Siddons insists that his side, who have been well prepared for the three-match series having been playing Down Under for a fortnight, must become a consistent force in the game before they are recognised as a serious threat.
The Tigers have beaten the Aussies once in 13 ODI meetings but Siddons is hoping to improve that statistic in Darwin, starting with the opening match of the series on Saturday.
"We always talk about the fact that we have a win here, we have a win there," Australian-born Siddons said. "We're trying to be more consistently competitive.
"Coming to Australia and everyone knowing that we can be competitive, not asking 'do you think you might win a game?' 'How many games are you going to win?' is what I want people to ask."
Stand-in Australia captain Michael Clarke says his team will not be allowed to take the tourists lightly, coming into the series with just one warm-up game behind them.
"I can guarantee that definitely won't happen," he said. "It's happened to us before and we've lost, not just to Bangladesh, but to a lot of teams.
"As soon as you take things for granted I think you find yourself asking questions why you've lost that game, so it's important we concentrate on Saturday."
The Aussies are without captain Ricky Ponting and experienced duo Matthew Hayden and Brett Lee for the series, which sees two further games at the Marrara Cricket Ground on September 3 and September 6.
