Lee - On 'short-term leave'.
Brett Lee has ruled himself out of the upcoming one-day series between Australia and Bangladesh for family reasons. He will be replaced by Brett Geeves.
Lee has been given "short-term leave' due to a personal matter which he has discussed with Cricket Australia.
Acting chief executive of Cricket Australia, Michael Brown did not disclose details of the matter, simply stating that "We look forward to Brett rejoining the group as soon as possible."
Lee's withdrawal comes in the wake of the news that injury will prevent both Ricky Ponting (wrist) and Matthew Hayden (heel) from playing in the series.
Lee's replacement, 26-year-old Tasmanian Brett Geeves, has seemingly leapfrogged Doug Bollinger and Ashley Noffke in the fast bowler replacement stakes, a move that may raise a few eyebrows.
Brown is confident the selectors have made the right choice, "The selectors are comfortable this move will maintain the competitive edge for the Australian side and provide a wonderful opportunity for Brett to join the Australian group for the first time."
Geeves was the leading wicket taker in Australia's domestic one-day tournament, the FR Cup, finishing with a haul of 15 wickets at an average of 25.20.
