Bangladesh batsman Nazim Uddin has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match one-day series against Australia due to a hand injury.

Nazim was included in the squad to tour Australia later this month after regular opener Shahriar Nafees opted out because he was sitting exams.

The 23-year-old has scored just 90 runs in seven one-day internationals but won't get the chance to improve that record after damaging a finger during a practice session in Darwin.

"Nazim has torn one of the tendons in his left ring finger," the Bangladesh Cricket Board said in a statement.

"The injury will require six to eight weeks of immobilisation in a splint."

Bangladesh play five warm-up matches ahead of the one-day series which will be played in Darwin on August 30, September 3 and 6.
