Gul - had a test during the IPL.
The Pakistan Cricket Board have played down suggestions that one of their players tested positive for a banned substance while taking part in the Indian Premier League.
The IPL announced on Sunday that a player failed a random dope test during the first edition of the tournament earlier this year.
Indian media claim the sample belongs to a fast bowler from the sub-continent, but the PCB insist they are in the dark about the matter.
"Right now we are not in the picture at all. Because this is purely an internal matter of the IPL and the Indian Cricket Board. And so far we have not been told by anyone that any of our players might be involved," a source at the PCB told PTI.
"Umar Gul also had a test but Shoaib Akhtar was not picked for any test," a source close to the Pakistani player said.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Asif, whose name has also been linked to the failed dope test, proclaimed his innocence.
"I am unaware of IPL dope test report. I have not been informed about anything," Asif was quoted by Times of India.
"WADA report hasn't mentioned any name as yet."
