Proteas Whitewash Bangladesh

Morkel - picked up four wickets.

South Africa went top of the one-day rankings on Friday after completing a series whitewash of Bangladesh with a seven-wicket victory in the third one-day international in Mirpur.

Proteas captain Graeme Smith made an unbeaten 68 as the tourists eased to their victory target of 144, finishing on 147 for three to dislodge Australia from the top of the ICC one-day rankings.

Smith was well supported by AB de Villiers who scored a quickfire 40 not out.

Albie Morkel was the star turn for the tourists, the 26-year-old finishing with figures of four for 29 as the Bangladeshis failed to cope with the Proteas attack.

The hosts won the toss and elected to bat first and initially made steady progress as they worked their way to 34 without loss by the ninth over.

But the first wicket fell soon after when Albie Morkel's delivery clipped the pad of Tamim Iqbal (eight) and back-up wicketkeeper AB de Villiers made the catch.

The hosts were 45 for two by the end of the 13th over when Shahriar Nafees was caught out by De Villiers for 25.

Mohammad Ashraful came to the middle and picked up a useful four in the next over when he hit Morne Morkel's delivery to the boundary line.

But Ashraful's stay at the crease ended for just nine runs when he sent Albie Morkel's delivery to mid-on where Hashim Amla made the catch.

Bangladesh were 72 for four by the 18th over when Mohammad Nazimuddin was dismissed for 20 when he hit a terrible shot in the air that Graeme Smith took at mid-wicket.

Shakib Al Hasan was bowled out for 12 soon after when Johan Botha's delivery hit his pads before clipping the stumps to leave Bangladesh 97 for five.

They picked up just five further runs before the next wicket fell, Raqibul Hasan run out for 12 while Dhiman Ghosh was bowled out by Paul Harris for three to leave Bangladesh seven down for 107.

The wickets continued to fall in the face of a merciless Proteas attack, Abdur Razzak (nine) the next to go after he top-edged Botha's delivery to de Villiers.

Mashrafe Mortaza managed five runs before he edged Albie Morkel's delivery to the wicketkeeper and Bangladesh's innings came to an end shortly after when Mosharraf Hossain (three) was dismissed by Botha.
